Crazy Horse Memorial
“My lands are where my dead lie buried.”
Traveling over the Scenic Black Hills of South Dakota we visit the mountain sized stone sculpture of Crazy Horse. This is a truly powerful place to visit, not just for the sculpture, but also for the incredible museum of Native American History that is located at the base of the mountain.

Good Spirits
Welcome to the South Dakota Badlands. This is our last major land mark of this adventure, but definitely not the least.

Badlands
The Badlands is a suiting name. The grounds cracking clay does little to hold water and you can forget any hope of settling down to grow crops here. Crossing on horseback had proven to be a treacherous task for any on their journey West.

Greeting the Rising Sun
The morning brings chirping birds, brisk air and the faint glow of dawns light seeping through the tent. This is a morning it's easy to rise early.

A Night in the Badlands
I have been waiting for this opportunity the entire trip. A chance to photograph the Badlands against a clear night sky. My headlamp splashes light onto the hardened earth producing a dance of eerie shadows.

The Last Stop
Hungry and tired we arrive at Timbuktoo's. A rainbow greats us as we step out of the car, a good omen. This is our last dinner out before returning to Pennsylvania. It's a cozy place filled with warm smiles and the smell of good food. Mom strikes a pose at the bar as we wait for a table.

Dream of Adventure
Over wide rivers and towering peaks we went. There were boiling pools of cobalt blues, towering peaks, and great shaggy beasts. This is our home but it seems like a dream.
